7th THE NUTCRACKER, San Francisco Ballet
Tchaikovsky’s fairytale ballet is a family favourite every Christmas, and this sparkling production from San Francisco is a real treat. Damian Smith and Elizabeth Powell star in Helgi Tomasson’s magical production.

Live from Covent Garden, a wonderful production of this seasonal family ballet. Peter Wright’s production tells the story clearly from its mysterious start to its happy conclusion. Through it all, Tchaikovsky’s music is some of the most instantly memorable of all ballet, with a wealth of famous melodies. Starring Alexandra Ansanelli and Valeri Hristov.

18th MANON, Royal Ballet
Kenneth Macmillan's choreography for this ballet is renowned around the world for its grace and simplicity. The pas des deux are some of the most romantic and glorious partnerships in all ballet. The production stars Carlos Acosta as Des Grieux and Tamara Rojo as Manon.

22nd AIDA, Gran Teatre de Liceu, Barcelona (Opera)
This is Verdi’s masterpiece in the renowned period production filmed in 2003 against the historic paper trompe-l’oeil sets painted between 1936 and 1945 by Josep Mestres Cabanes. Performers include Daniela Dessi, Fabio Armiliato, Roberto Scandiuzzi and Juan Pons, conducted by Miguel Angel Gomez Martinez.

The Spanish heat and gypsy passion of Carmen take to the stage in Francesca Zambello’s vibrant production. Starring Anna Caterina Antonacci, Jonas Kaufmann, Ildebrando D’Arcangelo and Norah Amsellem. Conductor Antonio Pappano.

5th MESSIAH, King's College Cambridge (Concert) - LIVE

Handel's death was on 14th April 1759 - exactly 250 years ago in April 2009. This performance will be screened live from the Chapel of King's College, Cambridge on Palm Sunday - 5th April. Stephen Cleobury will conduct the Choir with the Adademy of Ancient Music providing the orchestra.
26th TALES OF BEATRIX POTTER, Royal Ballet
Frederick Ashton brings Beatrix Potter's famous characters from the fields and ponds alive, creating a fantastic and spectacular family-friendly performance. Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle joins Peter Rabbit, Mr. Jeremy Fisher and many more in this charming one-act ballet.

24th SWAN LAKE, Royal Ballet
Swan Lake is perhaps the most famous ballet of all time, and Anthony Dowell’s production for The Royal Ballet is legendary. The story is based on an ancient German legend, which tells of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse.

Frederick Ashton’s three-act ballet Ondine was famously created for Margot Fonteyn and Michael Soames. The storyline is of a playful and mischevious water sprite who falls in love with a mortal with tragic consequences, with music by Hans Werner Henze. Highlights include the famous shadow dance in Act 1 and a dramatic shipwreck in Act 2.
30th LA TRAVIATA, Royal Opera House (Opera) - LIVE

Verdi's most famous work is performed here by Renée Fleming, Joseph Calleja and Thomas Hampson in a revival of Richard Eyre's highly acclaimed production. Conductor: Antonio Pappano.
