Revolver loads up DTO deal

Indie movie distributor Revolver Entertainment has signed a download deal with UK-based online video firm Arts Alliance Media (AAM) that includes ad-sponsored downloads, backed by Apple.

Controversial movies such as Kidulthood and Destricted are among the titles from Revolver that will be available for download-to-own (DTO) and download-to-rent (DTR) in the UK and Ireland via AAM's Vizumi Networks.

An initial 30 titles, which include the Beastie Boys' concert movie Awesome, I Fuckin' Shot That, will also be available via AAM's distribution partners, including LoveFilm and Empire, increasing to around 60 titles by the end of the year.

The partnership will also include ad-sponsored downloads, backed by Apple, that will see surfing movie Billabong Odyssey made available for free to 50,000 consumers through LoveFilm on a DTR basis.

Mark Livingstone, president of Arts Alliance Media, said: "We are excited to be able to offer ad-sponsored downloads, as we feel it's a great way to allow people to try our downloading and see how easy it is."

Arts Alliance has content deals in place with Warner Bros, Sony Pictures, Icon Film, Discovery Networks Europe, Universal, Playboy TV and FremantleMedia.
