Arts Alliance Media to sell Icon films online

By Dan Wootton

Arts Alliance Media (AAM) has struck a three year deal with Icon Film Distribution to sell movies such as What Women Want, Rock School and Dogville to UK consumers via its download service Love Film and AOL.

It will sell the films using a download to rent model, and AAM, the London-based digital distribution specialist, will be responsible for the digitisation, encryption and delivery of the films. The broadband film download market is becoming increasingly competitive. This year AAM has also signed distribution agreements with Fremantle, Sony, Universal, Warner Bros, Momentum and Tartan.

Following the deal, Howard Kiedaisch, the chief executive of AAM, said the company will aggressively continue to build its expanding library of content.
